Purple Ruby
Fragrance notes
Character
Purple Ruby opens with a loud, jammy fistful of berries, strawberry and raspberry leading the charge with a candied apple polish that feels more like a teenage crush than a mature affair. The heart is where the florals try to behave, peony and orange blossom dusting the fruit with powder, but gardenia gets shoved to the sidelines, barely registering. On the dry down, vanilla and caramel melt into a sticky, synthetic musk that clings to the skin like spilled soda on a fairground ride. This is a fragrance that radiates the specific image of a glitter-dusted handbag dropped on a carnival floor, all sugar and cheap thrills and fading confetti.
It is unabashedly sweet, aggressively fruity, and carries a plasticky undertone that never quite fades. The sillage is a shy whisper, rarely projecting beyond an arm’s length, and longevity clings for only a few hours before retreating into a vague, powdery ghost. For the price and the note list, it feels decidedly mainstream, a drugstore dazzle dressed in a designer bottle.
This is a scent for someone young, someone who wants to smell like a strawberry milkshake and vanilla frosting on a spring afternoon, or a summer evening where the only agenda is cheap fun. Skip it if you crave complexity, natural florals, or any trace of sophistication. It is a fleeting, good natured burst of confection, best worn when you want to be forgotten quickly, or when you are the only one who needs to remember.
