Or Black opens with a sharp slap of black pepper and leather, the bergamot barely cutting through before the smoke sets in. This is not a polite introduction. Within minutes, the heart reveals a dusky French labdanum, sticky and resinous, paired with a sage that feels almost medicinal, while benzoin adds a faint, sweet warmth. As it dries down, the base turns into a classic fougere skeleton of oakmoss and vetyver, but the amber, tonka, and a strange, almost animalic musk pull it toward something darker, less groomed. The ylang-ylang peeks through like a forgotten silk lining inside a leather jacket.
The overall character is that of an old leather armchair left in a damp cellar: rich, slightly mossy, and carrying the ghost of cigar smoke and dried herbs.
