Our take

The heavy door of a stone chapel swings shut, cutting the wind outside. Inside, the air is still and cool. Someone standing near the carved wood has just arrived, and the scent rising from their sleeves is immediate. Lavender opens first, soft but present, threaded with the dry heat of cloves. Frankincense curls through the top notes like smoke that has nowhere to go, settling into the quiet space between the walls.

Geranium and jasmine begin to show as the initial spice settles. The flowers do not feel bright here. They sit close to the cedar, which gives the air a clean, dry edge. Oud appears in the heart, not overwhelming but steady, adding a dark line through the green and the white petals. The floral elements and the wood share the same space without one overtaking the other.

Benzoin and styrax bring a resinous weight to the lower half of the room. Patchouli grounds the resins, while musk smooths the edges so the balsamic accord does not feel sharp. The oud returns in the base, deeper now, resting against the benzoin like a shadow against a warm wall. The air feels thick with aromatic herbs and amber, the kind of atmosphere that wraps around wool coats and stone floors.

The scent lingers in the dim light as footsteps echo once on the tile, the blend of lavender, cloves, and frankincense still hanging in the air while the resins and wood continue to unfold against the cold.
