Terre Aromatique opens with a sharp, resinous lift. Hyssop and Iran galbanum lead the way, supported by cypress and bergamot. The effect is green and slightly medicinal, with a cool bitterness that feels clean rather than harsh. It is an assertive start that establishes the fragrance as something rooted in herbs and needles rather than fruit or sugar.
The heart shifts toward spice and flower. Lavender and geranium add a soft, slightly powdery floral layer, while nutmeg and cinnamon bring a dry, warming heat. The spices do not weigh the composition down. They sit comfortably alongside the green opening, creating a middle that feels both structured and relaxed, like a walk through a garden where herbs grow wild between paved stones.
The base settles into cedar and tonka bean, with rosemary and soap rounding out the drydown. The soap note is clean and unmistakable, giving the final stage a laundered freshness that pairs well with the wood. Tonka bean adds a gentle sweetness, but it never overtakes the aromatic character built by the earlier notes. Virginia cedar keeps the foundation dry and upright.
