The bar is dim, lit only by the amber glow of bottles stacked behind the counter. You lean against the wood, sleeves rolled, while the air carries a sharp bite of cypress and a warm thread of saffron. The opening feels brisk and aromatic, green and slightly fruity, like crushed needles mixed with something rich and expensive.
Orris and rose step in soon after, softening the edges. The powdery iris note gives the air a smooth, vintage feel, while jasmine adds a faint floral lift that keeps the scent from feeling too severe. It is aromatic and earthy, a blend that sits close to the skin but feels intentional.
The drydown is where True Leather settles into its true character. Leather wraps around vetiver and Virginia cedar, creating a woody, grounded base. Musk and amber add a gentle warmth, and vanilla smooths the texture so the leather never turns harsh. It is a warm spicy, musky composition that feels natural and composed.
The limitation here is the saffron. It leans a bit synthetic, giving the early air a slightly sharp edge that does not fully disappear once the leather takes over. In this small space, that artificial touch keeps the fragrance from feeling completely refined.
