Our take

Vanilla Tanà opens with a surprisingly sharp pink pepper crackle that almost dares you to call it a simple gourmand. That spark quickly softens into a dense, custardy vanilla absolute laced with the creamy, almost floral lift of ylang ylang. But this isn’t a beachy tropical tan. The baobab adds a dry, fibrous woodiness that keeps the sweetness from tipping into cloying territory, while the white musk and sandalwood sand down the edges into a smooth, powdery amber base. The overall effect falls somewhere between a sun-warmed cashmere shawl and the scent of vanilla beans left to cure in a cedar chest: intimate, slightly dusty, and deeply comforting.

The sillage is a quiet whisper, hovering close to the skin for a couple of hours before settling into a soft, powdery film that lasts maybe four to five hours. You’ll need to reapply if you want to leave a trail, and that modest projection makes it a poor choice for nights out or crowded rooms. But for a solo evening with a book, a brisk fall walk, or a lazy winter afternoon where warmth is the whole point, it delivers exactly what the name promises: a tan without the sun. It feels niche in its refusal to shout, and natural in its dry, woody vanilla core, even if the opening has a faint synthetic sheen on first spray.

Who should wear it? Anyone who wants a vanilla that feels like a cashmere sweater rather than a sugar cookie, and who values comfort over projection. Skip it if you demand beast mode longevity or if your idea of vanilla is a sticky, candied bomb. This one is for the quiet hours.
