Our take

Violet leaf opens Violet Blonde cool and slightly powdery, with pink pepper adding a sharp lift and mandarin orange a brief citrus brightness before the violet settles in properly. Iris and orris root take over the heart, powdery in a colder, more mineral way than the violet up top, and jasmine adds warmth without pulling the whole thing toward sweetness.

Suede and benzoin move the base toward something leathery and warm, and musk, vetiver, and Virginia cedar round it out with a woody, slightly earthy finish. Once the iris settles in, the whole thing stays put for a long while, and what does escape the skin forms a modest bubble around the wearer, present without pushing outward.

This suits the cooler months best, from fall through winter, and its powdery, slightly cold elegance works equally well for a daytime office setting or a quiet dinner. The iris and suede combination gives it a slightly cold, powdery elegance in line with Tom Ford's drier, less overtly sweet florals, a violet built more for structure than for comfort, restrained in a way that rewards close attention rather than casual wear.
