Well Dressed Werewolf

Character
The sun is high over a wide, dry field where the late‑summer grass has been cut and left to bleach. You are kneeling in it, sleeves rolled up, the dry stalks pricking your arms as you gather an armful of hay. The air is warm on your skin, smelling of labdanum and cedar dust, but the heat does not flatten the scent. It sharpens it. A faint trace of violet rises from the bent grasses, cool and powdery, while jasmine presses in from a border of wild hedges nearby. The whole scene feels suspended in a single long breath, the kind of afternoon that asks nothing of you except to stay where you are.
The hay scratches your palms as you shift your weight, and the scent changes without moving. Fur and castoreum rise from the warm stalks, animalic and close, as if something had been lying in the grass before you arrived. Patchouli anchors the moment, balsamic and dark, while ambergris spreads a low, amber heat through the air. The powders of violet and jasmine settle into the dry stalks, softening the sharper edges of cedar and labdanum until the field smells of warm skin and sun‑heated earth. Spices hover without landing, a quiet heat that never tips into bite. You stay kneeling, the scent wrapped around you like a second shirt, heavy with wood and musk, utterly at home in the dry light.
