Our take

Galbanum snaps open like a fistful of crushed ivy leaves, a green bitterness that feels almost rude in its insistence. That’s the first impression of Miss Dior Esprit de Parfum, a chypre from the 1990s that refuses to soften its edges for anyone. The jasmine sambac arrives as a white floral whisper, not a shout, threading a honeyed indolic warmth through the green, while the patchouli base, dry and earthy with a faintly bitter cocoa dust, anchors everything into a woody, balsamic finish. The whole composition feels like a linen dress worn in a mossy garden at dusk, the fabric still smelling of rain and crushed stems.

This is not a crowd pleaser. It has a natural, almost vintage heft that sits close to the skin, reflected in the modest sillage and longevity numbers. Expect six hours, not eight, and a presence that says “I am wearing this for me” rather than “smell me from across the room.” Its sweet side is barely there, a smokey, warm spicy undertone that never tips into syrup, so if you crave vanilla marshmallow clouds, walk on.

It shines brightest in fall, when the bitter green plays against crisp air, and works beautifully for daytime wear. A confident, introspective fragrance for someone who finds beauty in restraint. Who could argue with a 4.29 rating?
