Our take

Black pepper hits first, sharp and dry, before lavender brings a green, soft calm that balances out the pepper's bite.

Gentleman Eau de Parfum spends its middle stretch on orris, cloves and cinnamon, a warm spice cluster that reads more refined than the usual cinnamon-heavy fougère. The base is where it earns its keep: black vanilla husk, tolu balsam, tonka bean and benzoin build something dark and resinous, warm without turning into dessert. Patchouli sits low underneath all of it, adding a dry, earthy weight.

This belongs to dim rooms and dinners that run long, a low-lit bar more than a bright office. Its powdery iris note is the detail worth paying attention to, giving the vanilla a dusty, cosmetic softness that most spice-forward scents skip entirely.

It settles in and carries on for a long stretch of wear, unbothered about fading. What it projects is a small circle of warmth around the wearer, felt by whoever sits beside you. Someone wanting a loud, projecting spice bomb will find this too contained for the occasion, but as a considered, formal warm scent built for evenings, restraint does more work here than volume would.
