Character
Bitter almond opens with a crisp bite that feels almost metallic before the saffron wraps it in a warm, golden haze. Egyptian jasmine enters soon after, its white petals lending a soft breath that keeps the spice from feeling heavy. Cedar grounds the heart with a dry, polished woodiness that sits close to the skin yet refuses to fade as the hours pass. The opening feels bright and slightly sharp, then settles into a smoother rhythm that carries through an entire day without thinning out.
Ambergris and musk form a base that clings to fabric and skin with remarkable persistence, leaving a trail that announces your presence in a room without overwhelming the air. The almond note returns in the drydown, now rounded and nutty, mingling with the animalic warmth of the ambergris. This is not a subtle skin scent that vanishes by lunch. It is a dense, powdery aura that surrounds you, evolving slowly as the woody and musky facets take turns stepping forward.
Francis Kurkdjian composed a scent that behaves like a silk scarf left on a cedar chest in a sunlit attic, absorbing the wood, the warmth, and the faint sweetness until the fabric itself seems to remember the light.
