Our take

Honey and beeswax give Scandal its signature warmth, thick and a little sticky in the best sense, well before patchouli and licorice pull it into darker, denser territory. Blood orange and mandarin orange up top are bright but brief, more a doorway into the honey than a note that lingers on its own. Gardenia, orange blossom, jasmine and peach crowd the heart, and the composition would turn overly floral if the honey and beeswax were not already anchoring things toward skin and wax rather than flower stems. Patchouli and caramel in the base add weight without adding more sweetness, and licorice gives the drydown a faint anise bite that adds a second layer of character to the finish.

It wears with genuine persistence, and the sillage sits as a small, warm cloud that follows close without spreading wide. Night is clearly its home, with fall and winter as the seasons where it makes the most sense, and it feels almost wrong worn under bright daylight. The animalic thread running underneath the honey gives it a slightly feral edge under all that wax, the detail that keeps it interesting past the first spray.
