Fleur de Peau opens on a jolt of aldehydes and pink pepper, sharp and bright like static before a storm settles. Angelica and bergamot calm that opening fast, handing off to a powdery iris and Turkish rose. The strangest part of the composition sits underneath: carrot, giving the base a waxy, vegetal warmth that most floral aldehydes never touch. Musk, ambrette, sandalwood, and a thread of leather round out a drydown that never travels far from the skin it is on.
You would have to catch it off your own wrist, or lean into a hug, to register the carrot and leather doing their quiet work underneath the iris. On skin it wears at a comfortable, unhurried pace, there for your plans and quiet about the rest.
Someone who already loves iris and does not need volume will find plenty here. Cool weather brings out its best side, letting the aldehydic top have air to cut through, though a winter evening lets the amberwood base take over on its own terms.
Fleur de Peau rewards patience over projection, and it does that one thing with real care.
