Aether opens with coriander and lavender, supported by cumin and petitgrain. The lavender is dry and herbal rather than powdery, and the coriander adds a green, slightly peppery edge. Cumin brings a warm, earthy lift that keeps the opening from feeling clean or soapy. Petitgrain adds a faint bitter brightness that cuts through the heavier spices.
In the heart, birch and labdanum take over. Birch introduces a leathery, smoky tone that aligns with the leather accord listed for the fragrance. Labdanum adds resinous weight, while jasmine and geranium soften the sharper edges. The jasmine is restrained and does not push the blend toward freshness. Geranium reinforces the green, slightly metallic herbal quality already present in the top notes.
The base centers on patchouli, oakmoss, vetiver, amber, cedar, and the continuing leather from the birch. Patchouli and oakmoss create a damp, earthy foundation. Vetiver adds a grassy, woody bitterness, and amber smooths the texture without making it sweet. Cedar gives a dry wood frame that holds the heavier elements in place.
The overall impression is aromatic, leathery, smoky, and woody, with steady earth and soft spice throughout. It fits a cool morning with damp air and layered clothing, or a dim room with heavy curtains and wood furniture. The scent stays close to its mossy, amber, and patchouli core.
