Amethyst Oud 30
Fragrance notes
Character
Romain Keller built Amethyst Oud 30 for NOOR as a thick, resinous oriental woody that opens with marigold and saffron lit by a wisp of incense. The initial impression is warm spicy and balsamic, leaning into amber and herbal territory before the heart reveals lily-of-the-valley and patchouli anchored by amberwood. It is a sweet composition, but the praline in the base stays earthy rather than sugary, resting on oakmoss and a prominent oud that gives the whole thing a woody, aromatic weight. The white floral note adds a brief lift, yet the overall mood stays grounded and masculine, with a texture that feels dense and deliberate rather than airy or casual.
This is not a hot-weather scent. It suits someone walking through damp leaves on a cold morning, coat collar turned up, when the air itself feels heavy and still. The praline and oud combination creates a rich, balsamic trail that pairs best with wool and chilled air, while the incense and saffron keep it from ever feeling playful. Anyone who finds heavy resins overwhelming should look elsewhere, but those who enjoy deep, earthy woods will find a lot to like here. The fragrance settles into the imagination like a heavy velvet curtain drawn across a stone hallway.
