Antigua by Phaedon opens with a bright, almost aggressive splash of guava and grapefruit, the lime cutting through like a shard of green glass. The apricot and bergamot soften the edges, but it’s the fig leaf in the heart that steers this toward something more complex than a simple tropical cocktail. A dusty peach and a whisper of rose try to flirt, but the base of oakmoss, vetiver, and patchouli pulls everything down into a damp, earthy chypre finish. The vanilla and musk add a subtle warmth, but they can’t fully rescue the fading projection. This is a perfume that starts as a fruit stand at noon and ends as a forgotten picnic blanket at dusk. It feels natural enough, though the sweetness leans a bit synthetic in the first hour, and while it’s certainly niche in concept, the execution is more approachable than experimental. The longevity is modest at best, and the sillage stays close to the skin after the opening act. Best suited for a lazy spring or summer afternoon, worn with a linen shirt and no agenda. Skip it if you demand presence or prefer your chypres bone dry and brooding. This one is a ripe mango, a bead of sweat, and a sudden shadow under a fig tree.
