Our take

The door to the courtyard swings shut and the city noise drops away. A low table holds two small cups of dark roast, steam curling into the cool air. Bitter orange and bergamot brighten the edge of the drink, while black pepper and nutmeg give each sip a gentle heat. The moment settles into something deeper as coffee joins carnation and two roses, Turkish and Bulgarian, their petals soft against the bitter brew. Egyptian jasmine floats above the cup, light and slightly powdery, never loud.

Tolu balsam and Siam benzoin add a golden, resinous weight that feels close to the skin. Texas cedar and sandalwood ground the air with dry wood, and Bourbon vetiver brings a clean, earthy line through the center. Myrrh and patchouli darken the corners of the scene, while vanilla absolute smooths the edges without turning the air sugary. The blend stays warm and spicy, amber and balsamic, with a faint floral whisper that refuses to disappear.

The courtyard is quiet now, lit only by a single lantern that throws a warm circle onto the stone. Coffee blossom returns here, delicate and unexpected among the heavier woods. The resinous glow of benzoin and the soft sweetness of vanilla linger near the rim of the empty cup. A final trace of rose and jasmine hovers in the cool dark, leaving the air balsamic, woody, and gently floral.
