Our take

Cruz del Sur II opens like a fruit vendor’s cart overturned in the sun, with mango, guava and pineapple tumbling together in a sticky, unapologetic tropical burst. Apple blossom adds a faint airy lift, but make no mistake, this is sweet, dense, and voluptuous from the very first spray. The heart deepens the jammy profile with black currant and violet leaf, the latter offering a green, almost metallic edge that keeps the fruit from collapsing into syrup. Then the base arrives, a creamy, almost lactonic bed of milk and dried fruits cushioned by a woody-cedar and vetiver skeleton. The musk is there, soft and warm, but never pushes itself forward.

This is a fragrance that wears like a ripe mango left out too long on a summer counter, sweet, tender, but beginning to bruise. It feels noticeably synthetic in that polished Xerjoff way, more luxury resort than farmer’s market, and the numbers confirm it: longevity hovers around moderate, sillage is subdued, so this is not a room-filler but a close, intimate scent. It suits someone who craves oversized tropical sweetness without wanting to shout, and it works best on a balmy evening or a vacation night when the air is heavy. Skip it if you prefer crisp, dry, or restrained scents, because this one bathes in its own juicy, milky haze and dares you to call it subtle.
