Within minutes, pepper and bay leaf cut through the brightness, bringing a sharp, aromatic heat, while cardamom and nutmeg add a dusty warmth that softens the initial jolt. The drydown settles into a sandy, woody base of sandalwood, Virginia cedar, oak moss, and musk, turning powdery and a little soapy.
