The sidewalk is damp with a late cold rain that has just stopped falling. A heavy coat is pulled tight against the air, and the wrist lifts to meet the nose. Nutmeg and lemon arrive first, bright and peppery against the grey pavement, while lavender smooths the edges so the opening feels calm rather than sharp. It is a clean start that fits the quiet street, the kind of scent that belongs to someone walking with purpose past closed shop windows. Geranium adds a green pinch to the heart, but vanilla moves in quickly, thick and sweet, wrapped around patchouli that feels earthy rather than dirty. The air around the collar grows warm, spicy and powdery, a mix that feels personal and slightly old-fashioned in the best way.

Cedar and tonka bean settle near the skin as the walk continues, musk rounding out the blend so it feels soft and amber-heavy on the fabric of the sleeve. The spice never fully retreats, yet the sweetness dominates the picture in a way that can feel heavy if the air is not cold enough to hold it. Jah is composed by Christian Carbonnel, and it wears its oriental woody character with confidence, but the vanilla here leans a bit too sugary for those who prefer their spice dry. It is a rich companion for a chilly day, though the sugar can become tiresome before the walk is over.
