Le Parfum de Jeanne opens with mandarin orange, lemon, and bergamot. The citrus is bright and immediate, giving the first moments a clean and energetic lift. It feels sharp and transparent, with the mandarin providing a gentle roundness against the sharper lemon and bergamot edges.
Jasmine and black currant form the heart. The jasmine adds a white floral softness that sits comfortably beside the tart, slightly green quality of the currant. Together they create a bridge between the initial citrus and the heavier base, keeping the transition smooth rather than abrupt.
The drydown is where the fragrance settles into its true character. Tonka bean and vanilla take over, supported by woody notes that ground the sweetness. The vanilla is warm and smooth, while the tonka bean adds a mild almond-like depth. The wood keeps the base from becoming too soft, maintaining a dry structure beneath the sugar.
The composition relies heavily on that vanilla and tonka combination. If you dislike sweet gourmand elements, this will feel too heavy. The citrus and jasmine try to lift it, but the base dominates the experience once it arrives.
