The orange blossom is there too, but it’s quickly buried under a dark, tarry weight. Antoine Lie has built something that smells like a bonfire after a hard rain, where the smoke has soaked into leather upholstery and the ash still carries a whisper of jasmine. That pine tar and cypriol combo is the star here, giving the whole thing a rough, almost medicinal edge that never fully smooths out. The cinnamon and jasmine sambac add a strange floral sweetness that peeks through the char, but it’s not inviting, it’s unnerving.
On skin, the drydown pulls the Texas cedar and labdanum forward into a warm, sticky amber base, with vanilla and tonka softening the spikes but never turning it into a gourmand. This is a heavy, brooding leather, leaning synthetic in its persistence but natural in its dirtiness. Sillage is moderate, around 3.7, and longevity is a solid 4.25, meaning it will last through a long evening but won’t announce your entrance from across the room. That’s a strength, because M V2Q doesn’t want to be liked, it wants to be felt.
