Our take

Steam rises from a mug of dark tea in a small room lit only by the amber glow of a single lamp. The air feels cool against the skin, yet the space holds a thick, golden warmth. Pink pepper and raspberry meet first, bright and slightly tart, softened immediately by the clean lift of bergamot. The fruit is not sugary here. It rests against the green, slightly powdery presence of clary sage and geranium, while ylang-ylang adds a rich, floral weight. Black pepper sits in the background, dry and sharp, keeping the rose from feeling too delicate.

Amber and tonka bean begin to wrap around the floral heart, heavy and resinous. Frankincense burns quietly in the corner, its smoke curling into the cedar and vetiver that anchor the floor of the room. Vanilla and benzoin lend a smooth, almost edible softness, but the black musk pulls it back from becoming a dessert. The scent feels layered and composed, like a heavy wool coat draped over a wooden chair. It is aromatic and woody, with a spicy dryness that refuses to let the sweetness dominate the atmosphere of the space.

The door stays closed to the cold outside, and the scent continues to settle into the warmth of the room, mixing with the steam and the wood and the quiet light.
