Our take

Bruno Acampora Malum opens with a crisp apple note that feels bright and slightly tart, surrounded by the gentle heat of cardamom, ginger, and cinnamon. The spices do not scorch the fruit. They give it a lifted, morning energy that suits a walk through a market when the air is still cool but the sun is fully out. Fennel and anise arrive in the heart, adding a soft herbal bite that keeps the apple from leaning too heavily into candy. Lily-of-the-valley floats above the spices with a clean, slightly watery floral touch that prevents the blend from feeling dense.

The base settles into a smooth vanilla and tonka bean combination that is sweet but not cloying. Sandalwood and musk wrap the gourmand elements in a creamy, powdery texture, while patchouli adds a faint earthy shadow. The overall impression is a floral fruity gourmand that stays approachable and light on the skin. It smells like a well-kept garden where fruit trees grow near a spice stall, with fresh air moving through both.

Miguel Matos composed a fragrance that blends fruit, spice, and soft florals with obvious care. The limitation here is the anise and fennel. They give Malum its distinct personality, but they also create a licorice edge that some noses will find difficult to enjoy. If you dislike that specific herbal direction, the vanilla and apple will not be enough to win you over.
