Our take

Notte Romana opens with a cool, green bite of galbanum that cuts through the soft white lily. The iris arrives soon after, lending a dry, root-like edge to the petals. There is an aquatic freshness that feels like damp stone rather than open water. The lotus and lily-of-the-valley in the heart keep the bouquet light and dewy. Rose sits quietly in the background, adding a familiar floral weight without dominating the blend.

The powdery character builds as the sandalwood and musk settle in. Vanilla and tonka bean provide a sweet, creamy contrast to the crisp green opening. It feels like walking through a garden courtyard after the sun has gone, where the air is cool and the flowers release their final heavy scent. The ozonic accord gives the entire composition a slightly misty, ethereal quality. The sweetness is rich but never cloys, resting gently on the skin.

The white floral notes can feel synthetic against the natural green of the galbanum. The aquatic and ozonic touches occasionally clash with the heavy vanilla base, creating a disjointed shift in texture. For a fragrance with such a deep, romantic premise, the execution of the floral heart lacks a certain natural transparency. The powdery accord occasionally veils the distinct shape of the individual notes.
