Our take

Rozy Voile d'Extrait opens with a startling slap of black currant leaf green, sharp and almost metallic, before the tuberose bulldozes through, creamy and indolic, dragging a clove-like coriander in its wake. The rose here isn’t dewy or shy – it’s a dark, honey-drenched jam stirred with styrax and labdanum, turning the heart syrupy and animalic. On the dry down, the melon peeks out like a weird, sweet ghost, softening the edges while sandalwood and vanilla give it all a dusty, almost powder-puff base.

This is a scent that feels like a wilting bouquet left overnight in a warm car: boozy, bruised, and a little bit dirty. It wears heavy, leans natural in its resinous complexity, and is unapologetically niche – the kind of thing Vero Kern built her name on. With longevity hovering around 3.8 and sillage just above light (3.36), it stays close but persistent, a whisper you can’t shake. Fall and winter are its true homes, and you’d wear it for a dimly lit dinner or a solo evening with a glass of something amber, not for a sunny brunch.

Skip this if you want clean or crowd pleasing. Those who love a honeyed, animalic floral with a green bite and a touch of rot will find it irresistible. Would you really want a rose that behaves itself?
