Our take

Sarcasm by For Or To is a thick, resinous blend that feels heavy against cool air. Caramel and tobacco press together until the sweetness takes on a dark, burnt edge. Fig adds a soft, damp roundness that keeps the sharper facets from feeling dry. Vanilla sits underneath, smooth and constant, while incense pushes a faint curl of smoke through the middle of the composition. Patchouli gives it a muddy depth that grounds the brighter notes, and carnation weaves in a powdered floral lift that stops the whole thing from collapsing into syrup. It is a perfume that demands a coat and a scarf, the kind of scent that belongs in a room lit by a single lamp while rain taps against the window. The sweetness is real, but it is not bright or cheerful. It sits close and brooding, more suited to a quiet street at dusk than to a sunlit afternoon.

The materials lean synthetic in places, giving the caramel a plastic sheen that some will love and others will find clumsy. Composed by Oleg Razygrin, it wears like a statement piece rather than a subtle everyday choice. It suits someone who enjoys heavy orientals and does not mind a fragrance that announces its presence through scent rather than volume. Those who prefer clean citrus or airy florals will find it overwhelming and stubborn. There is a particular kind of comfort in its weight, like standing near a brick wall that still holds the day's warmth while the first frost settles on the pavement.
