Our take

The dressing room is warm from the lights, and a vanity table holds a shallow bowl of white petals surrounded by small glass jars of syrup. Jasmine and lily rise first, fresh and dewy, as if the flowers were cut a minute ago and placed right under the nose. Orange blossom and magnolia arrive quickly, round and waxy, and the air turns thick with caramel that smells like melted sugar stirred slowly on a low flame.

The sweetness does not stay light for long. Vanilla and benzoin press in with a balsamic weight, resinous and golden, while white musk adds a clean, soapy film that softens the edges of the spice. The blend feels powdery and animalic at once, a warm spicy cloud that clings to the fabric of a sleeve and to the skin beneath it. It is a floral that leans heavy, more sugar than stem, more heat than breeze, sitting in the room like a second layer of air.

The magnolia keeps the caramel from becoming flat, and the benzoin gives the vanilla a dark, almost medicinal depth that lingers in the corners of the space while the jasmine continues to float near the ceiling, the orange blossom humming somewhere in the middle
