Our take

The garage bay door is rolled halfway up, letting late afternoon light cut across the concrete floor. A 1960s sports car sits mid-service, its hood propped open to reveal a greasy engine block. You lean against a workbench near the rear fender, wiping your hands on a rag, and the air around you carries the scent of the morning's wash. Bright clementine and lemon peel sit over fresh mint leaves, while lavender grows through the top notes like a clean shirt worn under a mechanic's jacket.

The citrus fades into the wood of the bench itself. Shaved cedar mixes with creamy sandalwood, and vetiver adds a dry, root-like edge that smells like sawdust swept into a corner. Geranium gives the heart a green, slightly floral lift that keeps the woods from feeling too heavy or dark. It smells like a man who works with his hands but still cares how the shop smells when the day is done.

Resin begins to warm the air as the sun hits the benzoin and amber settled near the base. White musk creates a soft, powdery layer that clings to the cotton of your sleeves, and tonka bean brings a gentle vanilla sweetness that feels like fresh shop rags folded on a shelf. The air is aromatic and spicy, never sharp, never cloying, just a steady warmth rising from the concrete.

You turn back to the carburetor, surrounded by amber and wood, a faint powdery musk on your skin, the scent of cedar shavings and benzoin resin hanging in the still garage air.
