Our take

Terra Nova opens with a bright, almost watery slap of bergamot and lemon leaf, the lotus adding a clean floral lift that feels less like a flower and more like a freshly rinsed hotel lobby. It moves quickly into an ambroxan heart that carries the sandalwood and violet like a faint, soapy echo. The base of black amber and patchouli tries to ground it with some warm Tonka, but this isn’t a fragrance built for depth. It’s a sheer, translucent construction, something like a glass skyscraper at dawn: all clean lines and soft reflections with almost no weight. The numbers back this up — longevity barely crests three hours, and sillage hovers near whisper territory. That’s the honest weakness: Terra Nova evaporates before it has a chance to make a real impression. It feels synthetic in the best mainstream sense, perfectly pleasant but never surprising. This is a fragrance for the man who wants to smell fresh without announcing himself, ideal for a spring office day or a summer brunch where projection would be rude. Skip it if you crave warmth, spice, or a scent that leaves a wake. Could there be a more polite fragrance on the market? It wears like a linen shirt ironed too crisp — immaculate, but you forget it’s there by lunch. Best for daytime, seasons where the air is already friendly.
