Our take

Tygar keeps its note list short on purpose: grapefruit up top, ginger and ambrette in the heart, ambroxan, musk, vetiver and patchouli underneath. Four movements, no clutter, and Jacques Cavallier Belletrud clearly trusted each one to carry real weight rather than leaning on a crowded formula to do the work. The grapefruit stays bright and bitter, never sliding toward candied, while ginger gives it a warm, slightly spicy lift as the citrus fades. Ambrette brings a musky, almost powdery softness that bridges the citrus top into the ambroxan-driven base underneath, smoothing what could otherwise feel like an abrupt jump between two very different accords.

Ambroxan, musk, vetiver and patchouli give the drydown a smooth, skin-close warmth, dry and woody, with just enough sweetness from the ambroxan to soften the dryness. Longevity is dependable, the ambroxan keeping the shape intact deep into the day, and it keeps a small, steady bubble around the wearer, easy to miss if you aren't standing close. It's a clean, confident citrus-aromatic for anyone who prefers a short note list executed with real precision over a crowded formula chasing complexity for its own sake.
