Our take

Vanity Oud is a fragrance for evenings when you want the room to lean in. The opening gives you raspberry and plum with a juicy, stained-glass brightness, then litchi adds a watery tropical lift that keeps the fruit from feeling heavy. This is not a shy introduction. The fruit is loud enough to announce your arrival, and the scent immediately establishes a presence that carries through the air around you.

The heart pulls the composition toward white petals. Orchid and frangipani bring a creamy, almost milky softness, while lotus and jasmine keep the floral side transparent rather than powdery. Cara Sylvain built a bridge here between the sweet top and the dense base, so the transition feels smooth. You smell flowers, but they are draped over something darker and more resinous that refuses to stay in the background.

That foundation is where Vanity Oud makes its real argument. Oud and ambergris create a warm, animalic depth, and vanilla rounds the edges without turning the blend sugary. Cedar adds a dry, carved-wood backbone that lets the scent sit on skin for an extended stretch. The sillage is ample, leaving a clear trail as you move through a space, which is exactly what a night out demands from a fragrance this rich.

Wear this when the plan involves low lighting and close conversation. The fruit fades slowly into the resin, the florals never outshine the wood, and the whole composition stays with you through a long evening. You are wrapped in a scent that feels like velvet draped over dark polished timber.
