L'Eau par Kenzo pour Homme
Fragrance notes
Character
Yuzu and green bell pepper give L'Eau par Kenzo pour Homme a sharp, vegetal start, pepper dominating over the citrus in the first few minutes. Lemon settles the opening slightly before water notes and lotus turn it distinctly aquatic, cool and faintly green. It holds at a modest, middling pace on skin, and it stays a private affair, barely leaving the wearer's own space. Water mint threads through the heart, sharpening the aquatic accord even further.
White musk and cedar close things out cleanly, cedar adding just enough dry woodiness to give the composition some backbone. This sits firmly in aquatic territory throughout, the water mint and lotus combination staying clean and simple rather than venturing into anything more complex. Green bell pepper resurfaces faintly even in the drydown, a small vegetal reminder of how the whole thing opened.
Summer is unmistakably its home, worn best on hot days when something this light and watery actually makes sense, and spring holds up reasonably well too. Composed by Olivier Cresp, it commits fully to one idea, cool water and green citrus, without much interest in surprising anyone along the way.
