Our take

Italica opens with a startlingly realistic shot of warm almond milk, the saffron threading through it like a saffron thread in a creamy rice pudding. This is not a shy fragrance; it announces itself as a lactonic gourmand from the first spray, quickly swerving into a dense vanilla and toffee heart that feels almost edible. The drydown settles into a soft, powdery sandalwood and clean musk, the cedar keeping it from sliding entirely into dessert territory. The overall character is that of a Victorian tea room where someone has accidentally knocked over a pot of melted toffee onto a cedar chest: sweet, woody, slightly dusty. It wears close to the skin after the first hour, with a sillage that hovers rather than broadcasts, which feels a little underwhelming given the heft of the notes. The longevity is excellent, eight hours easily, but you have to lean in to enjoy it. This is a winter-only scent, best worn on a cold evening when you want to smell like a luxurious baked good without actually eating one. It suits gourmand lovers with a tolerance for density and a preference for cozy, introspective wear. Skip it if you find lactonic scents cloying or if you need a fragrance that cuts through a room. Beautifully crafted, but it asks you to come closer, not the other way around.
