Magnus
Fragrance notes
Character
Magnus opens with a crisp blend of apple and pear, brightened by the clean lift of neroli. The fruit feels fresh rather than sugary, giving the entrance a clear, upright character that avoids the sticky feel found in many modern fruity releases. Jasmine enters soon after, carrying a soft white floral presence that sits comfortably beside the fruit without overwhelming it.
Sandalwood and amber form the center, adding a warm, slightly resinous body that grounds the lighter opening. The sandalwood feels smooth and polished, while the amber contributes a gentle glow that keeps the heart from turning too sharp. This stage moves the fragrance from bright to substantial in a steady, natural way.
Amaretto and leather define the base, with the almond-like sweetness of the liqueur meeting the firm, slightly animalic texture of leather. Musk rounds out the foundation, lending a skin-like closeness that holds the other elements together. The result is a mix of fruit, flower, and hide that feels deliberate and well balanced.
The synthetic edge in the neroli and jasmine can feel a bit thin when compared to the richer base materials. This contrast makes the transition between the fresh top and the heavy drydown feel slightly uneven. People who want a seamless flow from start to finish may find the shift between the bright opening and the dark, leathery finish a little abrupt.
