Bergamot opens the show for a few seconds before tuberose takes the stage, thick and a little narcotic, propped up by vetiver's dry green edge. Marie Salamagne built this around a white flower that usually turns sweet and blowsy, but here it stays tethered to something earthier: patchouli and incense come in fast underneath, giving the tuberose an earthy, resinous frame in place of a candied one.
Tonka bean and vanilla add warmth without pushing the composition toward dessert; benzoin and woodsy notes round the base into something closer to old wood and amber than sugar. The effect is more mineral than most tuberose fragrances manage, closer to a warm room with flowers left sitting in it too long than to a tidy bouquet.
The staying power fades in a slow, even taper, unremarkable but steady enough that a fresh spritz before evening plans is worth doing. The sillage keeps a tight radius, present for anyone within casual conversation range rather than the whole room.
Cold evenings are its natural habitat, fall into winter especially, when the amber and incense carry real weight. It suits anyone drawn to tuberose in its earthy, warm register, denser and more resinous than the fruity, candy-sweet version most people expect from the note.
