Our take

43BC opens with violet and plum, joined by cassis and a thread of anise. The fruit is dark and slightly cool, while the anise adds a clean, aromatic lift that keeps the opening from feeling heavy. It is a sweet start, but the sweetness is shaped by the purple fruit and the soft spice rather than by sugar.

The heart moves into tuberose, orange blossom, and ylang-ylang. The white floral character is prominent here, with the ylang-ylang adding a yellow floral warmth that rounds out the sharper edges of the orange blossom. Tuberose brings a creamy density that sits at the center of the composition as the fruit recedes into the background.

The base rests on tonka bean, vanilla, benzoin, musk, and the remaining floral traces. Vanilla and benzoin create a resinous, amber-leaning foundation that feels powdery and smooth. Musk softens the edges further, allowing the vanilla and tonka to carry most of the weight as the florals become quieter.

The accord list is long, and the result is busy. Sweet, vanilla, white floral, fruity, amber, powdery, soft spicy, musky, aromatic, and yellow floral all compete at once. The fragrance does not settle into a clear identity, and the mix can feel crowded rather than cohesive.
