Arcane
Fragrance notes
Character
Arcane opens with vanilla and saffron that feel warm and slightly resinous. The vanilla carries a soft, rounded sweetness while the saffron adds a dry, golden edge that keeps the start from becoming sugary. This initial impression is brief and soon gives way to the heart, where amber, labdanum, and incense take over with a dense, resinous warmth. The amber feels smooth and rich, the labdanum adds a leathery, slightly medicinal depth, and the incense brings a clean, smoky dryness that balances the sweetness of the vanilla still lingering from the top.
The drydown is where Arcane settles into its true character. Patchouli, sandalwood, cedar, and musk form a woody, earthy base that feels grounded and slightly powdery. The patchouli is dark and damp, the sandalwood creamy, the cedar dry and straight, and the musk softens the edges without making the blend feel overly sweet. The overall effect is balsamic and warm, suitable for a room lit by a single lamp where the air is cool outside. It suits someone who enjoys resinous, woody compositions and prefers a fragrance that feels composed and steady rather than bright or fleeting. A heavy velvet curtain drawn against the night.
