Our take

Badagi can feel heavy before it ever settles. The red wine and grape opening leans syrupy, and the cinnamon arrives with a sharp edge that stays present while the rose tries to soften the corners. Composed by Gigi Absaridze, this is an oriental woody blend that moves quickly into tobacco and incense, with labdanum adding a resinous weight that some will find too dense for daytime air. Jasmine sits quietly in the background, more of a texture than a clear floral voice, while the vanilla in the base pulls the whole composition toward a sweet amber profile that does not lift.

The setting that suits it best is a dim room in cool weather, where the cedar and vetiver can ground the sweetness and the musk wraps around the warmer notes without competing for space. Iso E Super gives the wood a modern sheen that keeps the fragrance from smelling like a strict throwback, but the syrupy start remains the hurdle. If a shopper dislikes grape-forward openings or finds cinnamon too dominant in the first hour, this will not be the right fit, no matter how much the drydown eventually smooths the edges.
