Character
A narrow street sits quiet under a sky that has just lost its light. The air carries a cool edge that makes the breath visible in short puffs. From a jacket sleeve comes the bright lift of red mandarin and grapefruit, their sharp citrus cutting through the damp evening air. Clove and cinnamon follow immediately, not as a gentle seasoning but as a bold, heated wave that warms the skin against the chill.
The heart of the scent reveals a garden growing between stones. Rose petals appear, but they are dusted with the grit of nutmeg and the sharp bite of anise. A streak of mint runs through the floral layer, keeping the spices from feeling heavy. It creates a sensation of walking past a brick wall where wild roses push through cracks, their sweetness tempered by cold air and aromatic herbs crushed underfoot.
As the night deepens, the pavement seems to give way to earth. Moss clings to the ground, damp and green, while sandalwood and cedar provide a sturdy, wooden frame. Leather emerges, smelling of old gloves and well-worn gear, and tobacco adds a dry, leafy richness. The composition feels like standing in a shadowed alley where the city's stone meets a wild, wooded grove.
The entire scene settles into a memory of a man leaning against a fence post, the wood grain rough under his hand, the scent of tobacco and leather mixing with the last traces of spice on his collar as the moon lights the damp moss at his feet.
