Eternity Summer 2008 opens with a brisk, almost tart slap of mandarin orange, but the real surprise is the bamboo and basil: green, watery, slightly savory, like crushing a basil leaf between your fingers while standing in a damp bamboo grove. The heart blooms into a soft white floral chorus: lily-of-the-valley and jasmine drenched in neroli’s honeyed bitterness. It’s all very polite, very Calvin Klein, and smells exactly like what it is: a mainstream summer flanker meant to evaporate before you’ve finished your morning coffee.
The dry down is a whisper of powdery iris, a touch of musky warmth, and a ghost of ginger that never quite sparks. This is the fragrance equivalent of a single cool breeze on a sweltering July afternoon: pleasant, fleeting, and gone too soon. It feels natural enough, green and fresh without any synthetic screech, but it lacks ambition or surprise.
Wear this on a lazy Sunday brunch outdoors, or to a beach picnic where you want to smell clean without competing with the salt air. It suits someone who values a light, uncomplicated floral and re-applies without complaint. Skip it if you want to be smelled across a room or if you expect a fragrance to carry you from lunch through dinner. This one fades like a daydream, and you will have to decide if that is a flaw or a virtue.
