Our take

Good Oud opens with a floral start built around magnolia and osmanthus, softened by the warm spice of cinnamon and a sharp edge from sumac and bark. Cumin adds a savory, slightly pungent lift that prevents the flowers from feeling passive. The heart moves into pomegranate and Peru balsam, supported by myrrh, resins, and clary sage. This layer is thick and resinous, with the fruit reading dark and tart rather than juicy. The base rests on oud and patchouli, anchored by labdanum and vanilla bean. Wild berries add a tart sweetness that keeps the woods from turning dry. The resins here feel heavy and slightly sticky, pulling the entire composition toward a dense, amber-woody finish.

The overall mood suits a cold night where the air is sharp and the streets are quiet. The sweetness in the base meets the spice and resin in a way that feels suited to standing outside in a heavy coat while the temperature drops. It is composed by Miroslav Petkov. The scent is fruity, floral, woody, amber, citrus, and sour all at once, with the sour accord coming through the pomegranate and sumac against the rich oud.
