Our take

Mint, incense, and jasmine open like a struck match in a cold cathedral, the green snap of herb cutting through a cloud of liturgical smoke. It’s an arresting start, but one that quickly retreats into a darker, sweeter heart. Dark chocolate and patchouli wrestle with cedar, the chocolate not gourmand but rather a bitter dusting of cocoa powder over resinous wood. This is where Hit The Mark finds its rhythm — a warm, balsamic gourmand that wears its sweetness like a leather jacket lined with vanilla.

The dry down is all benzoin and labdanum, a sticky amber blanket that hugs the skin for four or five hours before fading. Longevity and sillage are average by the numbers, so don’t expect to fill a room or survive a full workday. The composition leans synthetic in the minty top, but the heart and base feel surprisingly natural for a designer-adjacent niche release. Spend by Philippine Courtière. It’s a scent best worn in winter or crisp fall evenings, when the chocolate and amber can bloom without turning cloying. Picture a velvet booth in a dim speakeasy, a cherry-red lipstick print on a glass — that’s the image it conjures. Who should wear it? Anyone who wants a brooding, sweet-woody comfort scent without shouting. Skip it if you demand beast mode projection or are allergic to patchouli. It’s a solid spring swing, but it truly hits the mark when the leaves turn brown. 🍂
