The heart warms quickly into black vanilla husk and tonka, but the violet leaves keep things from turning gooey sweet, adding a faint powder that feels more like old paper than makeup. Peru balsam gives a sticky, resinous depth that lingers.
The dry down is where this settles into its true self: a dense, woody base of sandalwood and guaiac, wrapped in cashmeran and ambroxan for that modern, slightly synthetic sheen. Priprioca, a Brazilian note, adds an earthy, almost rooty undertone that saves it from being just another designer amber bomb. The overall character is like a dark wooden chest that’s been left open in a dry, heated room, releasing wisps of spice, vanilla, and dust.
It feels heavy and warm, leaning sweet but anchored by vetiver and musk. The sillage is restrained, hovering close after the first hour, which is a real weakness if you want to announce your arrival. Longevity is solid at around six hours, but it becomes a skin scent long before then.
