The leather chair is worn smooth in the corner of the study, and a glass of whiskey rests on the table beside a half-open box of dark chocolate. Peat hangs in the air from a fire that burned down hours ago, leaving a cold, mineral smoke that curls around the room. Plum and peach sit on a nearby plate, their juice sticky on the skin of the fruit, while cherry and raspberry spill their depth into the space. Honey drips slowly from a wooden spoon, and vanilla warms the air beside a single rose laid across a notebook.
