Ma Griffe
Fragrance notes
Character
Ma Griffe opens with a brisk green-citrus lift, where bergamot and lemon sharpen the creamy presence of gardenia. The first impression has the tidy poise of a pressed cotton blouse, crisp at the collar and softly textured underneath. Ylang-ylang soon warms the floral heart, joined by jasmine and rose, while sandalwood gives the bouquet a smooth, polished grain.
Its character is elegant without feeling fragile. The white florals have a distinct presence, yet the citrus keeps the opening airy and clear. A gentle sweetness sits beneath the petals, supported by the powdery, musky, woody and earthy facets in the accord. Ma Griffe feels especially suited to someone who enjoys classic floral structure with a green edge, careful grooming, and a little old-school formality.
The drydown is where the composition gains depth. Vetiver brings a dry, rooty line through the lingering flowers, while styrax adds a resinous warmth with a faint amber feel. Musk softens the texture, and tonka bean leaves a mild, rounded sweetness over the wood. Sandalwood stays important here, smoothing the vetiver and giving the base a calm, creamy finish. The transition is measured and graceful, with the floral core gradually wrapped in dry woods, resin and skin-like musk.
Ma Griffe has moderate staying power and a modest bubble, making it easy to place in an office or a close social setting. Spring and autumn suit its balance particularly well, though its clean brightness also works in summer. It belongs in daylight, with enough polish for a meeting and enough softness for a quiet lunch.
