Mangosteen by Edgardio Chilini opens with a bright rush of osmanthus and stone fruit, where apricot and peach meet a sharp lemon peel that keeps the sweetness from turning heavy. The first impression is juicy and immediate, leaning into a basket of tropical and orchard notes that feel sun-warmed rather than candied. It moves quickly into a dense heart where mangosteen sits among pitahaya, pomegranate, strawberry, pineapple, melon, and mango, all layered over a soft rose that adds a gentle floral lift. The fruit here is busy and colorful, almost crowded, with each note pressing forward at once instead of unfolding in a clear sequence.
Sandalwood and patchouli anchor the base with a creamy, earthy warmth that grounds the bright top and heart, giving the blend a woody finish that feels more mature than the fruit alone would suggest. The composition is unmistakably sweet and tropical, yet the sandalwood keeps it from feeling like a simple summer novelty. The limitation is the blend itself. With eight heart notes competing for attention, the distinct character of the mangosteen gets lost in the noise, leaving a pleasant but somewhat indistinct fruit salad where a single voice should lead.
