Our take

Grapefruit and Amalfi lemon snap awake first in Mefisto, cool and a little bitter before lavender softens the citrus into something calmer. Iris follows close behind, adding a powdery, almost cosmetic quality alongside the lavender's herbal edge. It keeps going long after the citrus top has burned away, and it casts a small, well-mannered halo, noticed by whoever's close enough for a conversation. Rose threads through the middle too, warming the iris just slightly.

Sandalwood and Virginia cedar form a soft, dry base, with musk and amber giving the drydown a warmth that never turns heavy. The whole thing stays remarkably linear for something built on this many aromatic pieces, citrus at the start and warm wood at the end with barely a rough transition between them.

Spring and summer are its best seasons, the citrus and lavender combination reading as fresh rather than cologne-generic even after repeated wear. It's an easy fragrance to reach for on an ordinary day, unfussy about matching an outfit or an occasion, built more around a mood of quiet freshness than around any single dramatic note.
