Narcotic Delight
Fragrance notes
Character
Narcotic Delight opens with a crimson slap of cherry syrup, pink pepper’s fizzy bite and black pepper’s gritty heat. It’s sweet and sour at once, like cracking open a jar of glazed fruit and getting a whiff of chile flakes. A glass of cognac cuts through the middle, warm and boozy, while hedione lifts the rose into something almost transparent, a fleeting floral gasp before the base drags everything down into darkness. Tobacco and vanilla form a sticky, resinous sheath, with tonka adding a dusty almond-sweetness and patchouli grinding a bitter root into the cedarwood. The overall character is a velvet glove lined with bramble thorns, the kind of scent that feels like a stolen kiss in a coat closet at a party that has already turned decadent.
Longevity and sillage are the catch. It settles close to skin after a few hours, a moderate three out of five in both categories. For a fragrance this rich, you want it to roar a little longer. But the composition is cleverly balanced: sweet without tipping into cloying, spicy without burning out, and the cherry never feels candied or synthetic. It’s unmistakably niche in its refusal to apologize for its own hedonism.
This is a February night in a leather booth, a cashmere scarf already damp with melted snow, a single cube of ice in an old fashioned. Skip it if you prefer crisp citrus or airy aquatics. Wear it when you want your aura to be a whispered threat, a promise that you taste better than you smell.
