Character
Oakbanum opens with a bright, resinous lift. Cognac and tangerine lead, supported by pink pepper, bergamot, and cardamom. Elemi resin adds a clear, pale green edge to the citrus. The entrance feels polished and spirited, with the fruit and spice sitting side by side rather than one dominating the other.
The heart turns darker and more rounded. Rum and whiskey bring a boozy weight, while coffee CO2 adds a dry, roasted facet. Osmanthus contributes a soft apricot-like floral touch, and amberwood with davana push the center toward a warm, slightly sticky sweetness. The overall impression is rich and dense, with the aromatic and warm spicy accords fully present.
The base is a heavy wood blend. Texas cedar, sandalwood, and oak sit beside oud, frankincense, patchouli, amber, bourbon vanilla, and musk. The woods and resins create a deep, powdery drydown that suits a dim room and a quiet evening. The one drawback is the boozy heart. The rum and whiskey notes read a bit loud and synthetic, which can make the middle feel slightly harsh before the woods settle in.
